About the Event

This workshop offers a relaxed and playful intro into contemporary clowning. Don't expect colourful wigs and big shows (no Krusty the Clown here) - come and improvise, move and experiment with others in a fun and welcoming space as you connect with your inner silly in a pursuit of pleasure!

We will look at complicite (connection), finding the game in our bodies, the space around us, and with others, we'll explore fixed points and sharing our emotions with the audience...and play a lot of games! Joy is the key.

Beginners and experienced welcome. The workshop is built around movement, but all abilities catered for. Please get in touch prior if you have any particular needs. Expected attendee age 16+

Participants need to bring a water bottle, clothes they can move in and a sense of play!

When: Tuesday, 2 May, 6pm-8pm Location: The Y, Alice Springs - 71 Sadadeen Rd, Mparntwe Cost: $25

To register, drop us an email - hello@onthewing.com.au - with your name.

NB. upfront payment is required to confirm your spot, as minimum numbers are required for the workshop to go ahead.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER:

Anna Thomson is a trained clown and queer performer/director working at the intersections of physical comedy, ridiculous performance art and roving performance.  She was a founding member of  PO PO MO CO (2017-2019); Melbourne’s award-winning physical comedy troupe, and her solo show Madame Nightshade’s Poison Garden won ‘The Risky Award’ for Experimental Performance (Darwin Fringe Festival 2019) and was nominated for Best Theatre (Perth Fringe World 2018). In 2019 she got down and dirty at Performance Space’s residency Queer Nu Werk, and she has performed around Australia at Fringe Festivals and variety nights.

She is serious about silliness!
